South Bend, Washington – The high wind watch previously issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) has been upgraded to high wind warning which will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PDT Saturday for the South Washington coast.

Winds for the beaches and headlands are predicted to be south 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 65 mph.   Coastal community winds are predicted to be south 25 to 35 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph.  The strongest winds are predicted to occur between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The winds may be strong enough to damage trees and produce power disruptions. These winds could cause problems for outdoor events especially those with temporary outdoor facilities such as tents and canopies.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions:

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring.  Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts to 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
