· Beaches and headlands: Winds will become south 35 to 50 mph with gusts 65 to 85 mph. Winds will turn west to southwest later this evening but remain strong with gusts 60 to 75 mph.
Two rounds of winds are expected. The strongest south winds will be between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. today with the second round between midnight and 9:00 a.m. but will be more westerly and will impact more than the locations typically impacted in a high wind coastal event.
Power disruptions are likely. Damage to trees in wind exposed areas may also occur. Those with high profile vehicles need to be prepared for sudden strong wind gusts, especially on exposed headlands as well as on Highway 101 and the Megler Bridge.
A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
