Flood Watch in Effect

South Bend, Washington –The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch in effect through Friday morning for portions of Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon. Heavy rain and snowmelt is causing sharp rises on several rivers and creeks.

Pacific County is headed into a week of high tides. Minor flooding is possible on several rivers. Street flooding and ponding is also a possibility with the slushy snow and heavy rain.

Winds of 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph are expected to continue until 4:00 p.m. today on the Southwest Washington coast. The highest winds were predicted to hit the Oregon coast, and Lincoln City, OR has reported gusts of up to 84 mph early this morning.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions:

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.  You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.  Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
